I am so lucky to work for a company like CT Management Group and am so grateful every day for the opportunities it has provided. In my 18 years of working full-time for CT I have seen many changes, especially when Covid arrived and we as a company introduced a work from anywhere policy, which allowed our staff to work from home during that period.
Well, this year I decided to take advantage of that policy and with the support of the MD have flown to Greece for a few months where I will holiday and work remotely. With our amazing systems and IT setup this allows for secure working anywhere in the world. You can’t get much better than this!!
I arrived in Thessaloniki Greece on the 27th June after a long 31 hours of flying and transit. I was finally at my destination.
Things I have learnt since I have been in Greece – you can’t flush toilet paper down the toilets as the ancient sewers won’t cope so everywhere you go there are bins in the toilets to put the used toilet paper in and then there are these big green rubbish bins on all the street for all the rubbish to be emptied into. Not great when you walk past the bins on a hot day.
There is no such thing as OH&S the other day when I was in the city, I saw a man climbing a ladder with a medium sized fridge resting on his back, shoulders and head with no ropes. It was that heavy that the ladder was starting to buckle but he just kept climbing. There was another man standing just in front of the ladder calling out instructions and one to the other side but he was keeping well out of the way but the man in front there was no way he would have caught it if that fridge had of fallen, he would have been crushed! There were no cones out to block the pedestrian traffic even though it was one of the main shopping streets. Unfortunately I didn’t get a photo as I was too stunned to even move from my spot until he had got it safely onto the balcony of the 1st floor. I am still shocked at how he got it up there without dropping it.
Another thing is you must watch where you are walking as you can easily roll an ankle in the large number of potholes not only in the roads but also some of the footpaths. Maybe we should put together a team for some condition assessments and project managers to manage the maintenance?

You can pretty much park anywhere, there are so many cars double parked, I am not sure how the cars parked against the gutter get out and parking on corners is also a thing, don’t worry about blocking pedestrian crossings. Lol

Souvlakis are served with chips, ketchup and mustard unless you specify otherwise. I opted to omit the ketchup and mustard and go for the tzatziki instead which was much nicer.
When I am not online working, I am out seeing the sights
