VIC/TAS Associates Day – 9 November 2018

CT Management Group – re-branding of company publications
Our Associates Day at Waurn Ponds Estate was a day of reflection and invigoration with the launch of the new CTMG brand and an array of guest speakers. Associates, Alliances and Council CEO’s and CTMG staff were welcomed by our Chairman Hon. Jeff Kennett AC.

Our Chairman opened the Day by launching a new brand for the company which he believed indicated the “trust “ he felt the new brand embodied between CTMG, its staff, clients and Associates.

Presentation to retiring Associate Jim Henshelwood
“I strongly believe our brand is reflected in our reputation that has been developed by the expertise, competency, dedication and consistency of our Associate team.”
CT Management is now 120 Associates strong and assists Councils in our 6 key areas – Asset Management, Service Planning, Organisation Development, Contract and Project Management, Placements and Financial Services.

Presentation to Retiring Associate Ross Goyne
The excellent work of our retiring Associates Dennis Kirby, Peter Mangan and Ian Couper was acknowledged and certificates of appreciation were presented to Ross Goyne and Jim Henshelwood who were in attendance.

Terry Alford was also recognised as a Senior Associate in recognition of his 23 years’ service to CTMG.

Dr. Graeme Emonson, Executive Director, Local Government Victoria presentation
The highlight of the day was Phil Ruthven AM who gave a detailed perspective as to where Australia was heading socially, economically due to population growth and social change over the next decade.

Dr. Graeme Emerson also joined us to provide an update on LGV and sector matters and in particular emphasised the operation of the Regional Transformation Fund as not a panacea for shared services, but a constructive barrier remover for Councils, to assist with changes in IT systems.

Chairman Jeff Kennett and Andrew Chow presentation
Andrew Chow (Independent Consultant), spoke on the impact of rate capping and how it shined a light on the underlying issues of sustainability for Councils and brought on a discussion around service and capital priorities.

Finally, Councillor Bruce Harwood Mayor of the City of Greater Geelong spoke on the progress of the City post administration and his core value of communication and information flow that he has as a cornerstone to his leadership at COGG.

Our Associate feedback from the afternoon session was as follows:

  • IPWEA recently did a report on fleet, greenhouse gas measures etc. – could we support Councils in this?
  • Our Associates believe there is more work in the education sector- we will follow up through our existing Principal network and Education Department.
  • Pre-incident Inspections prior to and post incidents will be an increasing requirement for Councils to comply with.
  • Does CTMG propose to increase its profile and expand into facilitating community consultation?
  • Facilitate an integrated push for performance measures for Local Government.

These suggestions were welcomed and will be considered in the coming months particularly in the build up to the 2019/20 Budget and review of our Regional Marketing Plans.

Finally thank you for your ongoing support and the continued building of the CT Management brand and reputation!
