Q&A provides an interesting insight to our Associates who are working in their own business sometimes after many years of permanent employment. This is Kerrie’s story:
Kerrie has practiced as an accountant for many years and is a qualified CPA.
Kerrie joined CT Management Group in September 2021 as an Associate after experience in the private, education and local government sectors. Kerrie has served on a number of Boards whilst being employed at Orica Australia, Triton Petroleum Melbourne City and Darebin Councils.
Kerrie, we value your contribution to CT Management Group; what drew you to becoming a consultant?
By working for local government, I believe you can make a real and lasting contribution to the welfare and health of communities. Becoming a consultant with CT Management Group allows me to assist in improving people’s lives.
What is your specialist area, and why are you interested in that field?
My specialist area is finance, which I have worked in for many years. A very bias view, is that without understanding the finances, Council’s will not be able to continue the amazing work they do.
What has been your career highlight to date?
There have been many highlights. The most interesting working environment was as volunteer in Tanzania. I was fortunate to use by finance skills to assist a Tanzanian not-for-profit organization.
What was the last thing you read – was it a report, novel or newspaper?
I am a regular reader of The Age and enjoy listening to audio books whilst walking. I am currently listening to Still Travelling by Mal Leyland.
How to you relax – is it music, meditation or something else?
The gym (when they are open) or walking is how I relax and destress.
When you are away from work, what do you like doing most?
Hiking to different oversea places, (when I am permitted). I have completed a number of hikes, but still have a large list that I still need to do!
Are you a sportsman or a spectator, and what’s the sport?
I was a tennis player, but now enjoy watching the Australian Open as well as the Melbourne Football Club win the grand final. (I have been a long suffering supporter!).
Is there anything you’d like to tell us about yourself that you think would surprise us?
I have always lived on the same page of the Melways, although I have lived in 3 different homes.
In a world with so many leaders and achievers – is there one person that gives you inspiration, why?
I really admire Chancellor Angela Merkel. She was an amazing leader for many years, never comprised her principles, and never gave the media any opportunity to criticize her based on what she worn, where she lived or what she spent her money on.
