Asset Plans (Victoria)

Alf Della Monica – Regional Manager VIC/TAS

Many of you are aware of the implementation of the Local Government Act 2020 in Victoria. A key change is the requirement of Councils to adopt a 10-year Asset Plan by 30 June 2022. Together with our experienced Associates in this area, CT Management Group’s integrated approach to preparing 10-year Asset Plans provides the opportunity to develop an Asset Plan that is driven by services.

CTMG Associates are providing their expertise in this area as Council’s struggle with resourcing and capability in this area.

To date we have worked or are currently working with a number of councils including Monash, Mansfield, Alpine Shire, Frankston, Darebin, Ballarat and Mornington Peninsula.

Professional Placements

Malcolm McKenzie – National Placements Manager

The current demand for resources is unprecedented with a surge in requests for Project Managers, Asset Managers, Procurement/Contract Managers, Accountants, Governance specialists, HR specialists and Property Officers.

Driving this appears to be a lack of available resources in the sector due to a combination of a number of Covid related factors.

There are fewer resources to service industry on the whole due to people being off work to isolate or not returning to work because of their vaccine status. Reduced resources across all sectors is driving increased competition for resources and increasing churn. eg. the government sector is now competing with the private sector for resources.

Associate Contribution – Fred Heinz

Our Associates become involved in many exciting community projects and Fred Heinze is sharing his experience as Project Manager of the YEA RECREATION RESERVE LIGHTING UPGRADE.

Background

The rural Township of Yea is strategically located at the junction of the Melba and Goulburn Valley Highways in Victoria’s northeast and sits centrally between the townships of Alexandra to the north, Seymour to the west and the Yarra Valley wine region towns of Yarra Glen, Marysville and Kinglake to its south east.

Yea is a thriving boutique town of 1800 people with a busy and productive retail and commercial centre catering for a buoyant year-round tourist trade, and also receives steady support from its surrounding agricultural communities

Project

Big on sporting and cultural activities, Yea boasts a highly functional and well equipped Yea Recreation Reserve (YRR) that serves as a headquarters to a constituent host of community organisations and functions.

NSW Region News

Jarrod Bryant – Regional Manager NSW

NSW Asset Management

CT Management have been successful in obtaining a large volume of Asset Management work in NSW of late. We have been delivering Asset Management Plans, Strategies, Policies and AMCap reviews for Narrabri Shire Council, Gwydir Shire Council, and Murray River Council. This has been in addition to delivering numerous Asset Condition Assessment projects throughout the state.

With several proposals under consideration currently we will no doubt have more work in this space in the coming months. Given many Councils are updating their strategic documents following the 2021 NSW Local Government elections we expect further work to flow through during the course of the year.
