A Message from the Managing Director – October/November 2021

A message from the Managing Director

CT Management Group has provided professional services for 25 years remotely through a flexible, professional Associate workforce.

We know that this symbiotic relationship is effective, predominantly due to the dedication and commitment of our Associates and the support of our professional staff.

We cannot thank our Associates enough for your commitment during the COVID 19 pandemic in terms of maintaining the connections with the Councils and providing them with ongoing professional support.

The relationships CT Management Group has with our Councils is predominantly due to the quality, experience, and wisdom of our Associates.

With the “lockdown constraints” reducing in NSW and Victoria we can only hope our community can get back to normal living or at least the “new normal” as seems to be the current idiom!

COVID-19 and Vaccinations

COVID-19 and Vaccinations

The CT Management Group is monitoring the various State Governments roadmaps out of COVID-19 restrictions.

We acknowledge and thank our Associates for meeting the challenges that COVID-19 has presented and your efforts in maintaining our services to Councils.

In all states and territories some form of restriction is being applied to business and the return to full employment via vaccination.

The CT Management Group, in responding to proposals for placements and projects, is beginning to receive requests from Councils requesting the vaccination status of staff and Associates attending Council offices.

We envisage the expectation in the coming months may be double vaccination prior to entering Council premises or working for Council as an Associate.

Q & A – Associate Alison Blackett

Q&A provides an interesting insight to our Associates who are working in their own business sometimes after many years of permanent employment. This is Alison’s story:

Associate Alison Blacket joined CT Management Group in 2019 and is a Planning and Development Senior Manager.

We value your contribution to CT Management Group; what drew you to becoming a consultant?

I love being able to move across various client bases and to quickly understand what they need. I am driven by being able to make a difference and deliver outcomes to the clients we service. As consultants we have the ability to be flexible and innovative, more so than if we were employees.

Q & A – Associate Tony Raven

The flexibility and variety of projects together with the support provided by CT Management were very attractive to me.

A Message from the Managing Director – March 2020

A message from the Managing Director

Traditionally Local Government operated in a relatively stable environment with councils having significant control over a predictable destiny. In 2020 change is ever-present; increasing governance standards and regulatory requirements, increasing customer centricity and accountability have all reshaped the Local Government sector in the last few years.

The strategic framework and long-term financial sustainability outlook are key objectives of the new Local Government Act 2020.

Local Government has lost capacity and autonomy with respect to revenue raising, principally through the introduction of rate capping and other measures. We believe expenditure management will be the key to the ongoing sustainability of Local Government with many councils facing the need to reduce operating costs.

Business Development

by Owen Harvey, Executive Director

As we are all aware, business development is the lifeblood of businesses providing consulting services. We have a number of senior people who are focused on ensuring that opportunities and leads are chased down and converted into fee paying jobs for our associates. This is all one area where associates can assist us in identifying new or additional work.

When working directly with councils, associates are in a great position to identify potential opportunities such as:

a variation to their existing contracts new project opportunities or identifying council gaps in resources, service delivery or other organisational needs.

Reflect Reconciliation Action

CT Management Group RAP

Following the launch of our RAP in November 2019 the implementation of actions under the plan have commenced.

As a member of the RAP community, CT Management Group joined over 1000 dedicated corporate, government and not-for-profit organisations that have formally committed to reconciliation through the RAP program since its inception in 2006.

CT Management Group Chairman, Jeff Kennett AC said “the RAP was developed by CT Management Group to extend and deepen our relationship with the broader Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities within the regions we engage and undertake projects.”

A key action in the plan is to “conduct a review of cultural learning needs within our organisation”.
